Mr. Anwar brings with him some unique experience in the fields of corporate and commercial law. He represented clients in some of the biggest foreign investments in Bangladesh. When Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) offloaded its shares to a strategic investor, the Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges, Mr. Anwar acted as the counsel for the target company, i.e. DSE. He represented bKash Limited in the historic acquisition of its shares by Alipay Singapore, which happens to be the largest FDI in fintech sector in Bangladesh. In healthcare sector, Mr. Anwar represented STS holdings in selling majority stake to Evercare group in an impact investment which also is the biggest ever FDI in Bangladesh in healthcare sector.
Mr. Anwar helps solve some of the complex legal problems on behalf of his clients on a diverse range of legal issues, including recovery claims, and desires to expand his legal acumen on multifarious areas of law. In the firm, his clientele includes many reputed organizations such as the Maersk Line, Avery Dennison, Novartis, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), BSRM Steels, Summit Group, Bunge Singapore, PWC India, Deloitte Singapore, Lanka Bangla Finance, Meghna Bank Ltd., Midland Bank Ltd., Juki Singapore, Shimizu Corp (Japan), Save the Children UK, BBC Bangladesh, Confidence Group, Abul Khair Group, United Group, Energypac Group, AK Khan Group, NYK Group, Pacific Jeans Group, bKash Limited, Link3 Technologies, Community Bank Limited, Universal Refinery and Base Technologies to name just a few. On many prior occasions, Mr. Anwar was instructed by top tier global firms Linklaters, Allen & Overy, White & Case and Norton Rose on matters of Bangladeshi law.
Besides his corporate and advisory practice, Mr. Anwar is an avid litigator and represented several statutory organizations in judicial review proceedings as well as in arbitration. He represents local and multinational corporations in civil and company matters in the sub-ordinate courts as well as the High Court of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. Mr. Anwar is a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
A graduate of three British universities, namely the University of Nottingham (LL.M; distinction), University of London (LL.B.), and the Manchester Metropolitan University (PG. Dip., now serving the University as its international alumni ambassador), Mr. Anwar was called to the English Bar in 2013 (Lincoln’s Inn) and Dhaka Bar in 2016 (Bangladesh).
When Mr. Anwar is not working, he is spending time with family, playing chess, randomly browsing on world events or writing an article for publication.
