Shammi Ahsan

Ms. Ahsan focuses on providing meticulous advisory services and, her area of expertise include, taxation, telecommunication, labour matters, FIDIC contracts, construction and property law, fintech and mobile finance, Islamic finance, corporate matters, international business, Muslim family law, banking, commercial transactions, joint ventures, etc.

She has advised and provided legal support to the Norwegian telecom giant, Telenor Norge AS, in the Invitation of Offers/ Proposal for Granting License for Tower Sharing in Bangladesh. She was responsible for structuring and designing (from labour law perspective) the Ethics and Compliance Department of the Bangladesh’s biggest telecom company. She often serves as committee member for conducting sexual harassment complaints at workplace for a number of MNOs and local companies. In addition to leading such sexual harassment complaint committees, Ms. Ahsan guides and advises the committee members on the legal and procedural matters for handling such cases. She carried out an intensive investigation in relation to an allegation of sexual harassment communicated to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Pathfinder International.

MS. Ahsan is involved in a project of establishing a joint venture fintech company, which involves 49% foreign investment (a telecommunication world leader). Her responsibilities in the project includes from negotiating the terms, drafting the joint venture agreement, drafting the Memorandum and Articles of Association to complete the incorporation of the company.

Here in Tanjib Alam and Associates her clientele includes, a range of reputed local land multi-national/ international organizations like, Grameenphone Limited, Robi Axiata Limited, AK Telecom, Coca-Cola Company, Coats, DHL, Collyers, Arla Foods Bangladesh Ltd., Kuehne + Nagel Ltd, Bangladesh, Novartis, AK Khan Group, , United Group, Pacific Jeans Group, bKash Limited, and so on.

Ms. Ahsan is a qualified Barrister and upon her successful completion of the Bar Professional Training Course (PGDL) from City University, London she was called to the Bar of England and Wales. Ms. Ahsan is a Member of Hall of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn. She also holds a Masters of Laws degree in International Business Law from BPP University, London.

Before joining Tanjib Alam and Associates, she worked with a prominent advocate of Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Barrister M. Amirul Islam at his well reputed law firm Amir & Amir Law Associates and another a propitious corporate law firm, named Vertex Chambers.

Ms. Ahsan, also served as a lecturer at the Department of Law, East West University, Bangladesh.
